Texas continues to shoot down high unemployment

Texas’ seasonally adjusted unemployment rate rose in May to 7.1 percent and continued to trend well below the national rate of 9.4 percent. The Texas unemployment rate was up from a revised 6.6 percent in April when the U.S. unemployment rate stood at 8.9 percent.

Cash for Clunkers heads to president for approval

A military spending bill that includes Cash for Clunkers passed Congress June 18, 2009 and now heads to President Barrack Obama for approval.  The legislation is meant to remove gas guzzlers off the road that will help the environment.  The Texas Independent Automotive Association is not so sure this is a good program for consumers.

Gov. Perry signs legislation to cut taxes for Texas small business owners

Gov. Rick Perry today signed House Bill (HB) 4765 which lowers the tax burden for more than 40,000 small businesses across the state. The bill more than triples the small business franchise tax exemption from $300,000 to $1 million.

Consumer Advisory: Summer heat especially dangerous to children left alone in vehicles
