"I am grateful that we were able to pass this legislation because the money provided in grants to local law enforcement helps pay all or part of the salaries of some 200 police officers (10 in San Antonio), whose main job is to investigate auto theft. Without money from the Automobile Burglary and Theft Prevention Authority, many of these officers could have lost their jobs," said Representative McClendon.
